Shipping and Handling ProcessIn order to deliver the freshest product to you, our lobsters are caught fresh daily and stored in a 38-degreed holding tank. The lobsters are packed in special boxes with frozen gel packs and absorbent material to maintain the best shipping conditions. Seafood from Dorr Lobster Company is fresh; it must be shipped overnight to your home or place of business. It is important that someone is home to accept shipment or other arrangements should be made to receive the lobsters.
Shipping Cost
We ship via UPS Nex Day Air Monday through Friday. Our prices do not include shipping. Shipping is calculated by the pound and added at the checkout process. By adding items into your cart, you can estmate shipping to your desired destination. Shipments leaving on Friday for a Saturday delivery will be charged an additional fee of $20.00. Shipping charge include overnight shipping, insulated shipping box, gel-ice, and shipping insurance. Shipping charges are relatively high for small amounts but decrease rapidly for larger orders.
Once your order is placed, please keep your tracking number so you can track your order with UPS. Delivery times are guaranteed by the end of the day and can run late into the eveining durning the busy holiday season. Please plan ahead. If you must have your order for a special event, schedule your order to arrive a day early before the event.
Delivery is not available on Sundays or Mondays or the following dates: (Dates are Holidays or day after that UPS observes)
Upon receiving your lobsters you should inspect the box to be sure it was not damaged during transit. Open the box and inspect the lobsters. They should arrive cool and damp. The natural color of Maine lobsters is a dark greenish-black to brown. Remove the lobsters from the box to assess their color and activity. Lobsters that are groggy with little activity should be cooked that day. Active lobsters that react when picked up can be stored in the vegetable bin of your refrigerator with damp newspapers for 24 hours. We recommended that your lobsters be cooked within 3 days from shipment. In order to enjoy the freshest tasting lobster, you should cook and consume them as soon as possible after receiving.
All seafood from Dorr Lobster Company is fresh and must be shipped overnight to your home or place of business.
Cancellation Policy
Standard Orders (Up to 10 lobsters)
We will accept cancellations up to 24 hours prior to shipment, with a full refund and without a cancellation fee. No refunds or credits will be issued for cancellations made less than 24 hours prior to shipment.
Large Orders (More than 10 lobsters)
Cancellations must be received at least 48 hours prior to shipment date for large orders due to the special arrangements that must be made to ensure the best conditions for travel. A standard fee of 10% will be applied to large order cancellations. No refunds or credits will be issued for requests made less than 48 hours prior to large order shipments.
All of our products are guaranteed to be delivered fresh and alive to your door. Any product not found to be alive when received should immediately be reported to Dorr Lobster by calling 207-546-7488. It is recommended by the Maine Lobster Promotion Council that lobsters be cooked immediately upon receipt. Our guarantee policy also does not cover the following:
Lobsters that are left unattended and perish will not be covered by our guarantee. If you cannot be home to receive the shipment, please make arrangements to have them delivered to your place of work or arrange to pick them up at a UPS terminal.
